Landscape consists of layer. As a spatial and material document it is characterised by capitalist exploitation and episodes of ecological violence. The experimental video swallowed matter links a disappearing reservoir in Spain with the increasing mechanisms of economic exploitation, examining how technological advance is inscribing itself into the landscape. During the Franco dictatorship, several dams were built in Spain for the production of electricity and drinking water. 70 years later, favourable economic conditions are driving the construction of many resource-intensive data centres by major tech-companies, despite the ongoing drought .

Looking at artificial intelligence as a technology that thirsts for water and electricity, swallowed matter turns to the remains of a reservoir and its reappearing village.
The work considers this landscape as a ruin where future and past collide.
